Sustainability

at Jakarta Running Festival

Jakarta doesn’t just run for medals it runs for tomorrow.

On race day, the city comes alive: tens of thousands of footsteps echo through landmark avenues, cheers rise from the sidewalks, and a shared rhythm connects every runner, marshall, and spectator. But behind this celebration lies a bigger story.

The Jakarta Running Festival is designed not only to showcase the spirit of the city, but to protect it. From the recycled jersey on your back, to the power lighting up the stage, to the MRT carrying you to the start line, sustainability is woven into every detail.

Because when we run together, we don’t just cross finish lines. We set new standards for how major events can care for people, cities, and the planet.

What You Wear, Matters

Your race jersey is built for performance and purpose. The main body is made from 86% recycled polyester, giving thousands of plastic bottles a second life, blended with 14% elastane for flexibility and comfort.

Every detail from the reflective heat-transfer stripes to the neck tape and even the threads is designed with recycled or remade materials. It’s lightweight, moisture-wicking, and built to move with you, proving that sustainability can deliver high performance.

When you line up at the start, you’re not just wearing a jersey. You’re wearing a statement: that running fast and running responsibly can go hand in hand.

Leaving No Trace Behind

Races bring energy, excitement, and if unmanaged a lot of waste.

That’s why we’ve committed to zero waste to landfill. With segregation bins, careful tracking, and full reporting, we make sure your celebration doesn’t leave a lasting footprint on the city.

Staying Close, Moving Less

Even behind the scenes, sustainability runs the show. By choosing hotels close to the venue for our crew, we cut down transport needs and emissions proving that small steps add up to big change.

Running Carbon Neutral

Every major event leaves a footprint and at Jakarta Running Festival, we take responsibility for ours. We measure and manage our emissions across all operations, covering Scope 1 and Scope 2 sources such as on-site energy use and fuel for logistics. To balance these impacts, we offset 100% of our emissions through certified projects registered under Indonesia’s Sistem Registri Nasional (SRN), supporting the nation’s pathway toward Net Zero Emissions by 2060.

By aligning with SRN, JRF ensures that every offset directly contributes to Indonesia’s verified climate actions, reinforcing transparency and accountability in emission reduction efforts. When you run with us, you’re part of a movement that celebrates both performance and progress helping Jakarta, and Indonesia, move one step closer to a cleaner, low-carbon future.

Breathing Easier in Jakarta

Air quality is one of Jakarta’s biggest challenges. Together, we’re taking a stand:

  • Free MRT rides for all runners on race day
  • Electric vehicles for event operations
  • Public campaigns to raise awareness about clean air

Thousands of runners moving by MRT means fewer cars, cleaner air, and a city that can breathe a little easier.

Safety is Our Starting Line

None of this matters without safety. Every crew member is insured, trained, and equipped from CPR skills to high-visibility vests so that every runner can chase their goals with confidence.

Join the Movement

Jakarta Running Festival is more than a race. It’s a promise: that sport can bring people together not only to celebrate achievement, but to protect the planet we run on. When you lace up this October, you’re not just running for yourself. You’re running for Jakarta. You’re running for the future.
